A Kurdish cyberspace activists of telegram channel in Orumiyeh was sentenced to three years of imprisonment by the Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh (Branch 2) on charges of “propaganda against the state” and “insulting the leader of the Islamic Republic”.
In the past few days, Farrokh Abdi, a Cyberspace activist and admmin of telegram channel known as Amanj covering Kurdistan news was sentenced to three years of imprisonment by the Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh (Branch 2) to one year and two years of imprisonment on charges of “propaganda against the state) and “insulting the leader of the Islamic Republic” respectively.”, an informed source told Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).
According to this source, yesterday the verdict was officially communicated to this political prisoner detained in section 3-4 of Orumiyeh Central Prison.
“Farrokh Abdi, the admin of telegram channel known as Amanj, was arrested in Qeshm and transferred to Intelligence Detention Centre in Tehran by security forces in February.
He was transferred to the the Intelligence Ministry’s Detention Center in Orumiyeh after two days during which he was interrogated for the news and material published by him in the telegram channel.
After the interrogation, this activist was transferred to the Orumiyeh Central Prison from the Intelligence Detention Centre in Tehran on March 7 and he is currently detained in ward 3-4 of ordinary crimes, in contravention of the principle of separation of crimes, to prison authorities.
