Ramin Hossein Panahi’s lawyer stated that his client is still at the risk of imminent execution and his health continues to deteriorate.

Hussein Ahmadi Niaz, The lawyer of the political prisoner told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) that he had been able to visit his client in Sanandaj Central Prison on Sunday.

“He was worried about the health of his client who is suffering from infection in his left kidney. The prison doctor has presented a report on the treatment process in the presence of Ramin and I, but none of the treatments have been effective in his recovery yet. I have addressed the counsel of Sanandaj Penal Code (Branch 4) in an official letter and called for the transfer of Ramin to a specialised hospital or the transfer of a specialist physician with all the facilities to prison to treat Ramin”, Ramin’s lawyer said.

“Ramin Panahi is at the risk of imminent execution. Unfortunately, the sensitivity of the issue is greatly increased because the warlords and violent people, who benefit from the insecurity in the province, insist on the execution of Ramin. Therefore, peacekeepers must urgently demand revocation of the death sentence as Ramin is at the risk of imminent execution due to the secret attempts of some influential people who insist on enforcement of the death penalty for Ramin.”, Ramin’s lawyer concluded while stating that his client had been complaining about being deprived of visiting rights.

On Friday, June 22, Ramin was wounded and arrested by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) in Sanandaj. The political prisoner was initially transferred to one of IRGC Intelligence Detention Centres in Sanandaj before being transferred to Sanandaj Central Prison after 200 days on January 09.

According to the family of this political prisoner, as well as his statements in the court, Ramin’s health has deteriorated due to torture and medical negligence during his time in solitary confinement. As a result, he is now suffering from kidney failure and amnesia. He is in poor physical health and he has not been offered any medical treatment in prison despite suffering from persistent pain due to kidney problems.

“According to his lawyer, Ahmad Hossein Niyazi, the verdict, issued by Judge Saeedi and another judge at the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj (Branch 1), Ramin Hossein Panahi has been sentenced to death by hanging per Articles 279 and 288 of the Islamic Penal Code.

In April, the case of this political prisoner was approved by the Supreme Court (branch 34) and officially served on his lawyer.
