On Monday, March 05, five civil activists including a Kurdish singer were interrogated at the Interrogation Department of the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj (Branch 4) on charges of propaganda against the regime through the celebration of the Newroz last year.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has been informed that five labour activists in Sanandaj, called Muzaffar Salehnia, Sharif Sa’edpanah, Khaled Hosseini, Ghaleb Hosseini and Habibollah Karimi in addition to the ceremony singer called Nasser Salehi were interrogated at the Revolutionary Court (branch 4).

All six activists were temporarily released on a bail until the trial after the alleged charges were explained to them.

They were previously interrogated by the Sanandaj Intelligence Bureau on charges of holding the Nowruz celebrations in the Sanandaj Parisal Hall and propaganda against the regime.

“On the eve of last year’s New Year and the celebration of Newroz in the cities and villages of Kurdistan, security organisations summoned and threatened Kurdish activists in order to prevent holding Newroz celebrations.” An informed source told KHRN.

According to the source, a number of other organisers of the Newroz ceremony in various cities have been threatened over the telephone by security forces over the last few weeks.
