Four labour activists from Kamyaran were transferred to Kamyaran prison to endure their sentence. They had been arrested in April of 2016 on charges of attending the International Labour Day Ceremony but released after a few days on bail.
Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has been informed that two labour activists, Aram Mohammadi and Shaho Sadeghi, were summoned to the Kamyaran Judiciary on December 18 and 19 and transferred to the prison to serve their 91-day prison sentence.
On Thursday, December 20, two other activists of the case, Mehrdad Sabouri and Omid Ahmadi, were transferred to the Kamyaran prison for their one-year sentence.
It should be noted that Shaho Sadeghi, Aram Mohammadi, Mehrdad Sabouri and Omid Ahmadi were arrested by security agents at their homes on May 18 and 19, 2016 and transferred to the Intelligence Bureau of Kamyaran. They were transferred to the detention centre of News Headquarters of Sanandaj Intelligence Bureau after several hours.
Two days later, Rozhin Ebrahimi and Delniya Sabouri were telephone summoned by the headquarters of the Kamyaran Intelligence Bureau and interrogated for several hours due to participating in the celebration ceremony of International Labour Day. These two activists were temporarily released after interrogations, but the other four labour activists were temporarily released from Kamyaran Prison after one-week detention.
On Oct 3, 2016, the trial of these six activists was held at Branch 1 of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court chaired by Judge Saeedi without the presence of any legal counsels. While defending the International Labour Day, the afore-mentioned activists insisted on the freedom to engage in various types of labour organisations. On Oct 15, these labour activists were summoned to the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj again and the verdicts were officially served on them based on which they were charged with propaganda against the state. According to the verdict, Mehrdad Sabouri, Delniya Sabouri, Rozhin Ebrahimi and Omid Ahmadi were sentenced to one year in prison while Mohammadi and Shaho Sadeghi were each sentenced to three months and one day in prison.
In mid-November 2018, the trial of these six activists was held at Branch 4 of the Sanandaj Court of Appeal under the chairmanship of Judge Mostafa Tayari who held the initial verdicts of one-year imprisonment sentence for Mehrdad Sabouri and Omid Ahmadi, 3 months and one day of imprisonment sentence for Aram Mohammadi and Shaho Sadeghi while reducing the one-year imprisonment sentence for Rozhin Ebrahimi and Delniya Sabouri to 3 days.
