During the past few days, a kolbar was injured in the Sardasht border area due to Falling from the Mountain while three other kolbars were killed and wounded by the mine blast in the border area of Piranshahr.

“On Tuesday, March 6, 2018, a 40-year-old Kolbar called “Rasul Mullah Wasu” from the village of “Warde” of Sardasht was injured due to falling from the mountain in Kani Zard,” An informed source in Sardasht told Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).

“This kolbar, married with three children, was later transferred to the Sardasht health care centre and was discharged from the hospital after two days.”, the source said.

Another source in Piranshahr told KHRN that, on Thursday, March 8, 2018, a group of Kolbars in the border area of “Qomatra” of Piranshahr, were involved in a mine-land explosion when being chased by the border guards. Three of the Kolbars were injured while another was killed as a result of this mine explosion.

According to the source, one of the injured kolbars, called Amir Khan Rakhidah, 38 years old from Turkesh Sofla village, lost his life due to the severity of his injuries.

Another one of the injured kolbars called “Mostafa Ahmadpour”, 21 years old from the village of Shakhtahn, Piranshahr, lost one leg in the incident. Another kolbar called Peyman Zarei was hospitalised with minor injuries.

It is noteworthy that following the request of the Central Government of Iraq, the Iranian authorities have closed all Iran to Kurdistan of Iraq border crossings since February 2018 . This closure has resulted in the unemployment of tens of thousands of Kolbars and border businessmen. Moreover, kolbars have had to turn to the mountainous and harsh ways for carrying goods.
