Aref Mohammadi, a Kurdish civilian from the village of Bavan in the Margevar area of Orumiyeh, was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment by the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh.

Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has obtained information that the trial of Aref Mohammadi was held at branch 2 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh on Aug 4, 2019. He was sentenced to five years in prison on charges of “acting against national security” by cooperation with the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan(PDKI).

Aref Mohammadi was arrested by security forces along with three other citizens, Abed Mohammadi, Sarhang Babakri and Hassan Barati on July 1, 2019. He was then transferred to the central prison of Orumiyeh after three weeks of interrogation.

Three political prisoners arrested along with Aref Mohammadi were released on bail. He was transferred from ward 4-3 to political prisoners’ ward upon the sentence being served on him yesterday.
