During the past week, a Yarsan soldier from Sar-e-Pol-e Zahab and a young teenager from Javanrood have ended their life for various reasons.

Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has been informed that a 24-year-old soldier called Yahya Yari from Sar-e-Pol-e Zahab in the garrison of Shahid Sales in Gilan-e-Gharb ended his life on Monday, February 12 due to the refusal of authorities to transfer him to Sar-e-Pol-e Zahab as well as the lack of attention to his family issues and mental problems.

Moreover, on Thursday, February 13, a 17-year-old teenager from Javanrood called Armin Abdullahi, ended his life by hanging himself for an unknown reason.

On Friday, February 16, a 37-year-old woman, took a large number of pills at Bukan Beach Park to end his life. He was immediately taken to the hospital by the intervention of the relevant organisations.

It should be noted that a 26-year-old woman called Laulau Moradi also set herself on fire and ended her life due to family problems while on Wednesday, February 18, a 31-year-old young man called “Iqbal Sarhadi” ended his life by taking a large number of pills.

This is the fifth case of suicide since February.

Unfortunately, the rate of suicide in Kurdistan has been significantly rising due to various factors such as unemployment, poverty and family issues.
