One of the Kurdish cyberspace activists of telegram channel, who was recently sentenced to three years imprisonment on charges of “propaganda against the state” and “insulting the leader of the Islamic Republic”, faces a new charge now.
An informed source told Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) that, Farrokh Abdi, a Cyberspace activist and director of telegram channel known as Amanj which covers Kurdistan news, was tried on Tuesday, May 28, for “Blasphemy” in Branch 102 of Orumiyeh criminal court.
The source added that this case took place while earlier last month the Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh (Branch 2) had sentenced him to one year and two years of imprisonment on charges of “propaganda against the state”and “insulting the leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran” respectively.
“Farrokh Abdi, the director of telegram channel known as Amanj, was arrested by security forces in February in Qeshm and was transferred to Intelligence Ministry’s Detention Centre in the city of Tehran.
He was transferred to the Detention Centre of Orumiyeh after two days and was interrogated for the news and material he had published in the telegram channel.
After the interrogation, this activist was transferred to the Orumiyeh Central Prison from Intelligence Ministry’s Detention Centre in the city of Orumiyeh on March 7 and he is currently detained in ward 3-4 of ordinary crimes in contravention to the principle of separation of crimes.
