Death Row political prisoner Hedayat Abdullahpour was transferred from the political prisoners’ ward of Orumiyeh Central Prison to an unknown location yesterday noon, Saturday, May 09.

The institution has reportedly taken him from prison to the Intelligence Unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC). But the reason for the transfer and whereabouts of this political prisoner is unknown. KHRN has expressed concern over the sudden transfer of Hedayat Abdullahpour.

Hedayat Abdollahpour was arrested by IRGC in Shno on June 15, 2016, 50 days after the bloody conflict between the IRGC forces and the Peshmerga of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran in the village of Qaresoghl.

He was detained for two months in a detention centre in Orumiyeh to obtain confessions under severe torture including “electric shock”, “thonging feet soles with cable ” and other horrendous tortures before being transferred to Orumiyeh Central Prison.

The trial of Abdullahpour was held on January 17, 2017, at Branch 1 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh, presided over by Judge Chabak on the charge of “Assistance in Baqŷ” and “Membership of the Democratic Party of Kurdistan of Iran”.

The verdict was referred to Branch 47 of the Supreme Court upon his lawyer’s submission of contest statement but the case was referred to the same branch. The retrial of this political prisoner was held on January 10, 2018, at Branch 2 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh which sentenced him to death again.
