One of the Kurdish cyberspace activists of telegram channel called “Amanj” was transferred to the Orumiyeh Central Prison after a month of detention by security forces.
“Farrokh Abdi, a Cyberspace activist and director of telegram channel known as Amanj which covers Kurdistan news, was arrested by security forces about a month ago in Qeshm.” an informed source told Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).
According to this source, the security forces first transferred the activist to an intelligence detention centre in Tehran before transferring him to the detention centre of the Orumiyeh Intelligence Bureau two days later.
The source further stated that the interrogators had stated the reason for Farrokh Abdi was ‘propaganda against the regime and calling Orumiyeh people to protest against the invasion of the Turkish army in Afarin’.
After the interrogation, this activist was transferred to the Orumiyeh Central Prison from the intelligence detention centre in Tehran on March 7 and he is currently detained in ward 3-4 of ordinary crimes.
Moreover, on Dec 13, 2017, Salahedin Ranjbar, director of the Telegram channel “Orumiyeh Dang”, was also arrested by the security forces for broadcasting news of the protests against sexual harassment of a 13-Year-Old Schoolgirl and encouraging turmoil. He was released from prison after two weeks on bail.
The channel of the Orumiyeh Dang was blocked by security forces after its director being arrested, despite being licensed by the Directorate of Culture and Islamic Guidance.
