In recent days, a young Kurdish singer from Orumiyeh has been arrested by security forces and transferred to an unknown location.

“On Monday, Dec 18, 2017, Security forces entered the home of a young singer known as Peyman Mirzazadeh in Gangachin village at Orumiyeh, arrested and transferred him to an unknown location.” an informed source told Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).

“In the past few days, the singer’s family have persistently referred to the authorities and the security and military administrations to find some information about him but they are still kept in the dark about his fate and whereabouts.” the source added.

“Over the past few years, the artist was summoned and threatened by the Orumiyeh Intelligence Headquarters because of singing Kurdish revolutionary songs.”, the source added.

Earlier this spring, another Kurdish artist from Orumiyeh called Youssef Zaziri was arrested on the same charges by security forces and he spent two months at Orumiyeh Central Prison before being released.
