The Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor of Eslamabad-e-Gharb in Kermanshah province announced the arrest of civilians affiliated with groups which “promote sectarian, deviant and anti-Islamic matters”.

According to IRNA (Islamic Republic News Agency) on Thursday, July 2, quoting the Kermanshah Public Relations Department, the Islamic Revolutionary  Guards Corps (IRGC) has identified and arrested people in two operations on charges of “propaganda activities against the regime” and “insulting the sanctities of Islam” in the Eslamabad-e-Gharb. 

The identities of these people have not been disclosed. It is also not clear how these groups or networks were involved in alleged charges mentioned above. Accusations of propaganda against the state and Islam are among the most common charges made by the Iranian government against activists.

HRANA News Agency, the news organ of the Iranian Association of Human Rights Activists, has announced the identity of one of these individuals, Reza Ramezani, and quoted a source close to the Kurdish civilian’s family as saying: “At the time of his arrest, the agents stated that the reason for his arrest was blasphemy.

The civilian is said to have been arrested for his activities in cyberspace.
