Marivan Governor has forced the organisers of a seminar on the phenomenon of “Kolbars” in Marivan to cancel the seminar without giving any reason.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has been informed that Marivan governor has forced the organisers of a seminar focused on the Kolbars phenomenon to cancel the seminar which was scheduled to be held on Nov 15 by the Marivan cultural-artistic centre “Vajin”. The organisers of the seminar have received a call from the governor of Marivan who has told them that they did not have the right to hold this seminar.

On the one hand, poverty and unemployment have led to people to turn into Kolbari (working as a Kolbar) in Iran’s Kurdistan. On the other hand, the complex situation of this stratum of society, and in particular the continuing massacre of Kolbars by state institutions, has become one of the most important issues in recent years in Kurdistan. However, various state institutions not only refuse to take measures for resolving this problem but also prevent other attempts such as holding a seminar, etc. to examine and provide solutions to this problem.
