A seminar on the Economy of the Border Regions and Kolbari supposed to be held at Payam Noor University in Marivan was cancelled due to the involvement of security institutions. Students, who had gathered at the seminar hall, chanted slogans in protest to this cancellation and asked the university authorities to explain why this seminar had been cancelled.

Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has been informed that, according to an announced by student activists of Marivan Payame Noor University over the past few days, this seminar was scheduled to be held on December 12 by the Marivan Payame Noor University at Mamoosta Ghaneh Hall. However, despite the presence of students in the hall at the designated time, the seminar was cancelled by the University’s Security Department for unknown reasons.

Students, who intended to participate in the seminar, left the hall and gathered in the university campus while chanting slogans and demanding the university authorities to explain why the seminar had been cancelled.

It is noteworthy that two other seminars on the Phenomenon of Kolbars and child labour in Sanandaj and Marivan have been cancelled by security authorities during the past month.
