British citizen of Iranian Kurdish origin and academic Kameel Ahmady was released on a bail of 500 million Tomans after 100 days of detention.

Ahmady was detained by the Islamic Republic Guards Corps (IRGC) in Tehran on 11 August, and he was interrogated for his research on topics related to female genital mutilation, childbearing and “white marriage” in Iran over the past few years.

On 1 October, Gholam Hossein Ismaili, speaker of the Islamic Republic Judiciary, accused Ahmady of “affiliation with foreign countries and institutions associated with foreign intelligence.”

Ahmady was held in ward 2A of Evin Prison, which is under the supervision of the IRGC. He had been transferred to the general ward of the prison since October.
