A 24-year-old pregnant woman called “Arezoo Darwishi, from Mahabad, suffered from a brain haemorrhage after cesarean operation and went into a coma lost her life.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has been informed that on Saturday, Oct 28, 2018, Arezoo Darwishi, was taken to the Imam Khomeini Hospital in Mahabad two weeks before her delivery date due to feeling pain. She went under cesarean operation without due attention to her physical condition.

Following the preliminary tests, the medical committee has announced the reason for death as medical negligence. She lost her life after one week of admission to the intensive care unit (ICU) of Imam Khomeini Hospital in Mahabad.

It should be noted that, on Oct 28, 2018, another pregnant woman from Saqqez called Leila Baraei, lost her life after normal childbirth at the Social Security Hospital for unknown reasons. The broadcast of the above news in Social media resulted in widespread reactions which led Mohsen Biglari (representative of Saqqez and Baneh in the parliament) to send a letter to the director of Kurdistan Social Security Treatment and demand for clarifications about the causes of death of this pregnant woman.
