Mustafa Sabzi, a Kurdish political prisoner from Maku who is serving his 15-years prison term at the Orumiyeh Central Prison, has gone on hunger strike in protest to the disagreement of authorities with his transfer request to a prison near his parents.

“Upon confirmation of his sentence by the Court of Appeal, Mustafa Sabzi has repeatedly requested be transferred to the Maku prison, but the Enforcement Office has rejected this request. It is noteworthy that there is no mention of Orumiyeh Central Prison as the place of imprisonment. “ The source further added.
Mustafa Sabzi announced his hunger strike to prison officials on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 while stating that two other Kurdish political prisoners at the Orumiyeh Central Prison, Rahmati Turgoot and Bashir Pirmawana, have also gone on hunger strike in protest to not being granted conditional release.
Mustafa Sabzi, 24, a Kurdish citizen from Maku, was arrested by Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) in one of the village of Orumiyeh in June 2014 and was interrogated at a security detention facility in Orumiyeh for two months. He was transferred to the Orumiyeh Central Prison after completing the interrogation period and he was sentenced to 15 years in prison charged with being a member of the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK) a few months later. This verdict was equally held by the Court of Appeal.
