The Disciplinary Forces in Sanandaj prevented the organizers of a seminar titled “Reviewing the Social Situation of Children” from holding this ceremony under the pretext of having no permit. The forces dispersed the people who were present at the Fajr Cultural Complex in Sanandaj to participate in this seminar.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has been informed that the Society for Defending Street and Labour Children (Jamiat Defaa in Persian) had announced the launch of a seminar on the situation of children in the society. However, police sieged the Cultural Complex an hour before the seminar began on November 20 under the pretext of not having the Governor’s permission to hold the seminar.

“The Sanandaj Guidance Office was aware of the holding of this seminar and the Fajr Hall was allocated to the seminar with the coordination of Guidance Office, but the police prevented people from attending this seminar today at 16:00. They closed the entrance to the hall and threatened the organisers of the seminar as well as those who were present there to attend the seminar.”, a civil activist from Sanandaj told KHRN.

The seminar was scheduled to be held at the Fajr Cultural and Arts Complex in Sanandaj on November 20 with a focus on how the phenomenon of street and child labour and the impact of verbal and behavioural violence on children.
