A prisoner Seyed Kamal Hosseini died in Saqqez prison due to suffering from Coronavirus.

“Seyed Kamal Hosseini, 36, from Saqqez, was arrested by police on Wednesday, June 10, 2020, and transferred to the city’s prison the next day. He was taken to hospital two days later due to his deteriorating condition and died two days ago.”, an informed source in Saqqez confirmed the news to the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) 

According to this source, Hosseini had been suffering from shortness of breath and heart problems in the prison quarantine since Thursday and hospitalised at Imam Khomeini Hospital in Saqqez on Friday morning. He died at the hospital the next morning, on June 13, 2020, due to cardiac arrest and Covid-19 disease.

The body of the Kurdish civilian was buried in the presence of his family a day later under the protocols set for the pandemic. 

The provinces of Kurdistan and Kermanshah have been declared red areas in recent days with the onset of the second wave of Covid-19, and various sources have reported that a large number of patients have been hospitalised in different cities of the two provinces due to Covid-19.
