Khalil Karimi, a labour activist and member of the Free Trade Union of Iran Labourers, was sentenced to one year in prison by the Branch1 of Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj.

Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has been informed that Khalil Karimi was summoned to Branch 1 of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court on Sunday, Nov 18, 2018 and his one-year imprisonment was officially served on him on charges of propaganda against the state due to participation in International Labour Day and Campaign against the death sentence of Ramin Hossein Panahi.

The charges had been previously explained to him on July 5, 2018 in Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court and the trial was held on charges of propaganda against the state on Sept 10, 2018.

During the past few years, several other labour activists have been summoned and interrogated for participating in the International Labour Day. A number of these labour activists were charged with propaganda against the state in the Revolutionary Courts.
