Security forces in Sanandaj arrested a labour activist yesterday and transferred him to the intelligence headquarters in the city of Sanandaj.

“On Tuesday, September 26, the security forces of Sanandaj arrested Saleh Nia (the Kurdish labour activist and a member of the board of directors of the Free Trade Union of Iran Workers) at his office without arrest warrants. He was then transferred to the Intelligence Detention Centre of Sanandaj,” A Labour activist told Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).

Despite the consistent enquiries made by his family, the authorities not only have avoided making any comments about the fate of this labour activist but also the security forces threatened his wife that she should not return to this intelligence centre within five days.

Mozaffar Saleh Nia was also arrested by security forces at his workplace on June 21, 2016 but he was released on a bail of 50 million Tomans after spending 19 days in the detention centre. He had been arrested on charges of propaganda against the regime and membership in the Free Trade Union of Workers in Iran while the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj acquitted him from these charges later.
