A teacher from Divandareh, Omid Shahmohammadi, who was arrested by the Inteligence bureau of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on 12 November 2018, was temporarily released on bail.

Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has been informed that this Guild’s activist has been temporarily released on a bail of 100 million Tomans today on December 20 after 38 days of detention.

The above-mentioned activist was interrogated for his guild activities and attending the protests of teachers.

The IRGC agents raided the house of Omid Shahmohammadi on Monday, November 12 without a warrant while seizing some of his personal belongings before transferring him to the IRGC Detention Centre in the city of Divandareh.

It is worth mentioning that Omid Shahmohammadi, with 20 years of teaching experience in the field of biology in Divandareh, has been also involved in promoting book reading in addition to his guild activities.

Earlier on December 10, another teacher in Divandareh, Hamed Nargesi, who was arrested on November 21 after being summoned to IRGC Intelligence Bureau, was released on a bail of 100 million Tomans.

Since the beginning of the new academic year, teachers have been greatly under the pressure in the run-up to two sit-ins of teachers in Iran and 10 Kurdish teachers have been summoned and interrogated by security agencies over the past two months.
