On Monday 12 November 2018, a teacher from Divandarreh known as Omid Shahmohammadi was arrested and transferred to the detention centre of Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Sanandaj.

A reliable source in Divandarreh told Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) that the IRGC forces raided the house of Omid Shahmohammadi at 15:00 Monday, November 12 without a warrant while inspecting his house and seizing some of his personal belongings before transferring him to the IRGC Detention Centre in the city of Divandarreh.

The source further added that, after the arrest of Shahmohammadi, the security forces referred to Zanko’s library belonging to him and seized the computer.

According to the source, in the past few days, after his family’s enquiries from the court and the Divandarreh IRGC, they have been told that Shahmohammadi had been transferred to the IRGC detention centre in Sanandaj for interrogations on Tuesday, November 13.

Since the beginning of the new academic year, teachers have been greatly under the pressure in the run-up to two sit-ins of teachers in Iran and 10 Kurdish teachers have been summoned and interrogated by security agencies over the past two months.

It is worth mentioning that Omid Shahmohammadi, with 20 years of teaching experience in the field of biology in Divandarreh, has been also involved in promoting book reading in addition to his guild activities.
