Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN): Kamran Jafari, a Kurdish political prisoner detained at the Orumiyeh Central Prison, was released after serving his three years imprisonment sentence.

The political prisoner was arrested in the city of Orumiyeh in November 2016 but he was released on bail after a month. He was later sentenced to five years in prison on charges of being a member of a Kurdish opposition party by Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court.

He contested the verdict and his case was referred to branch 3 of the Orumiyeh Court of Appeal which reduced the verdict to three years of imprisonment. The verdict was served on him on March 2017 and He was transferred to Orumiyeh Central Prison at the end of the year in order to serve the verdict.

This political prisoner, who has been in prison for 3 years, has been deprived of any temporary leave (Furlough) and conditional release.
