Ali Khushnamak, a Kurdish activist detained in Marivan prison, was released On Monday, December 11 after serving three years in prison.

“Ali Khushnak, a civil activist, was arrested on Nov 29, 2014 by security forces in Marivan. He was sentenced to three years of imprisonment at the Revolutionary Court of Marivan, headed by Judge Samini Ned on February 10, 2015 charged with membership in an organization to undermine national security per articles (499 and 500) of the Islamic Penal Code,” an informed source told Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).

“Despite making an appeal in the provincial court of appeals, the verdict against him was finalised after 52 days on June 11, 2015 at Branch 4 of the Sanandaj Appeal Court headed by Judge Tayari.”, the source said.

“The prisoner only had one medical furlough (temporary leave) in October 2015 during his imprisonment.”, the source added.
