Ali Mami, a Kurdish political prisoner detained at the Orumiyeh Central Prison who was sentenced to one year in prison on charges of propaganda against the state, was released on October 09 after serving his one year imprisonment sentence.

Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has been informed that, this political prisoner was arrested along with three other citizens called Bashir Pir Mawana, Ahmad and Yousuf Manda (all from from Tergawarr of Orumiyeh) on Oct 17, 2017 by Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) of Orumiyeh who transferred them to the Intelligence Detention Centre of this security force.

The four Kurdish citizens were interrogated for a month on charges of cooperating with one of the Kurdish opposition parties and later transferred to the Orumiyeh Central Prison. The trial of these four political prisoners was held at Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh, chaired by Judge Sheikhloo, and they were sentenced to five years of imprisonment on charges of cooperating with one of the Kurdish parties.

However, they contested the verdict and the case was referred to branch 13 of the Orumiyeh Court of Appeals which sentenced Ali Mimi and Youssef Manda to one year of imprisonment on charges of propaganda against the state while confirming the verdict of the other two political prisoners.

On Oct 8, 2018, Ali Mimi was released after serving his one year imprisonment sentence, and prison authorities told Yusef Manda that he would be released the next day. Currently, Youssef Manda and Ahmad Manda are held in ward 3-4 and Bashir Pierre Mawana is held in ward 12 of Orumiyeh Central Prison.
