Behrouz Boochani, a Kurdish refugee journalist known as ‘the Voice of Manus’ won the Amnesty International Australia Media Awards.

Euronews reported that the refugee journalist from Ilam, who is residing at Manus Island Asylum Seeker Detention Centre in Papua New Guinea (PNG), did not manage to attend the ceremony in Sydney in Australia.

Behrouz Buchani is continuously reporting the situation asylum seekers in Manus Island and has released videos of their situation in this centre.

Reuters reported on Tuesday that the authorities have decided to shut down the Asylum Seeker Detention Centre in Papua New Guinea (PNG) but the refugees are not willing to leave the camp.

However, the closure of this centre started on Tuesday and Behrouz Buchani has stated that there was no water, electricity, food or medicine at this centre on Wednesday and the situation of refugees is getting more difficult momentarily.
