Sirwan Ebrahimi”, a member of the Nojin Cultural-Social Association, has been sentenced to three years in prison by the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court in recent days for “cooperation with one of the Kurdish opposition parties”.

Sirwan Ebrahimi was arrested by security forces in Kamyaran on June 26, 2019, but he was released on a bail of 500 million Tomans on Sept 12, 2019.

In recent months, Iran’s intelligence services have put increasing pressure on active members of Kurdish associations, including the Nojin Cultural and Social Association.

Earlier, along with the arrest of Sirvan Ebrahimi, another active member of the Nojin Association, Manteh Rahmani was also arrested by the security forces. He was later released on a bail of 500 million tomans after 80 days of interrogation.

Moreover, three other members of the association including Zahra Mohammadi, Rebwar Manbari and Idris Manbari were arrested in Sanandaj on May 24, 2019. Rebvar and Idris Manbari were released 4 days later but Zahra Mohammadi was released on a bail of 700 million tomans after more than six months of detention.

The Nojin Cultural-Social association has an official license and it has been organising Kurdish language classes in various cities of Kurdistan over the past few years. This civil organization has also been active in helping flood victims in Lorestan.
