A Kurdish Border Porter –known as Kolbar- was killed and another one wounded in a shootout after being targeted by the Turkish troops in the border region of Qotur on the border between Khoy County, West Azerbaijan Province and Turkey.

A reliable source in Qotur has informed the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) that “At 10 pm, May 17, Turkish army forces fired directly at a group of Kolbars near the village of Amanort at the zero border region, as a result of which a Kolbar named Bahram Yousefi was killed and another kolbar known as  Shams al-Din Omarpour was wounded”.

According to the source, Bahram Yousefi’s body was taken to Van and has not yet been handed over to his family. Shams al-Din Omarpour has been transferred to a medical centre in Van and his condition is reported to be critical. Bahram Yousefi, 35 from the village of Beljuk Qutoor, was the father of three children.

At least two Kurdish Kolbars have been killed by Turkish troops in the Kurdish town over the past year.
