Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that Dr. Omid Modaresi, a dentist and a well-known civil activist in Marivan, has been detained by security forces affiliated with the Marivan Intelligence Service about two weeks ago.
On Wednesday, January 22, security forces arrested Dr Modarresi in his office and transferred him to the Ministry of Intelligence Detention Centre in Sanandaj. The reason for the arrest of this Kurdish civilian, who is one of Marivan’s most prominent figures, still remains unclear two weeks after his arrest.
The delay in announcing the arrest of Modarresi appears to be a result of pressure from security forces who repeatedly threaten the families of detainees not to comment on the arrest of their relatives.
