Akbar Goweli, a civil rights activist from Sanandaj, was transferred to the Sanandaj Central Prison on Monday, January 28 to endure his 4 months imprisonment.

Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has been informed that Akbar Goweli, a civil rights activist. was summoned to the Enforcement Office of Sanandaj Revolutionary Court and subsequently transferred to the Sanandaj Central Prison on Moday, January 28 to endure his 4 months sentence.

The above-mentioned activist was also summoned and arrested by security forces earlier last year due to participation in the Iranian New Year’s Eve (Nowruz) at the village of Qassrian in Sanandaj. He was released on a bail of 150 million Toman after two days.

He was sentenced to one year in prison by branch 1 of Sanandaj Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj last year on charges of propaganda against the state. Upon contesting the verdict, the dossier of Goyli was referred to branch 4 of Sanandaj Court of Appeal which reduced the imprisonment sentence from one year to four months.

This activist has also been summoned and interrogated to the Ministry of Intelligence in Sanandaj several times over the past two years.
