Shahram Farhadi, a Civil Rights activist who has been previously sentenced to two years in prison by the Sanandaj Court of Appeal, was arrested and transferred to Sanandaj Central Prison to endure his sentence.
Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has been informed that, on January 21, law enforcement forces arrested Shahram Farhadi in his house and transferred him to the Sanandaj Central Prison.
A reliable source in Sanandaj has reported that the law enforcement forces have beaten this civilian activist at the time of arrest.
Farhadi, a civil rights activist who has been active in environmental forums and campaigns for collecting aids for the Kermanshah earthquake victims and Shingal, was arrested by the security forces and transferred to the security institution’s detention centre in Sanandaj on November 16, 2017 when engaged in transferring popular assistance for the Kermanshah earthquake victims.
He was released on a bail of 400 million Tomans after two months of interrogation at the Ministry of Intelligence Detention Centre in Sanandaj. This activist was sentenced to four years of imprisonment on February 15, 2018, on charges of cooperating with a Kurdish party by branch 1 of Sanandaj Revolutionary Court headed by Judge Saeedi.
Upon contesting the verdict, the dossier of Farhadi was referred to branch 4 of Sanandaj Court of Appeal which reduced his sentence to two years in prison.
It is noteworthy that another activist, Mohammad Naempour was also prosecuted for the same case mentioned above. He was arrested and transferred to the Sanandaj Central Prison on January 09 upon finalisation of the verdict against him.
