Iranian government troops have opened fire killing and wounding Kurdish Kolber workers and their horses in the Sardasht border area, according to local sources that spoke to the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) about the most recent deadly shooting incidents.
Iranian military forces opened fire wounding two Kurdish Kolber workers Abdullah Arjang and Ebrahim Abdi in the Alan borer area near the town of Sardasht on 30 October 2016.
They were admitted to a hospital in the Kurdish city of Mahabad where they have since undergone serious medical treatment.
A source from the Sardasht area spoke to KHRN saying that the Iranian government troops als shot dead 60 horses belonging to the group of the Kurdish Kolber workers that they targeted in the border area.
The following day on 1 November the Iranian forces opened fire killing a Kurdish Kolber worker.
The source added: “In the morning of Tuesday 1 November 2016, the central regiment forces killed another Kolber worker Seyed Osman Azizi near the village of Darmanaway also located near the town of Sardasht. Azizi was from the village of Maklawi near the town of Rabat. He was married and had two daughters. At the time of his slaying he had in his possession smuggled peanuts”.
His dead body was taken to one of central regiment’s bases in the area, but later the villagers from Ghalarashi protested and Azizi’s body was transferred to Sardasht coroner’s office and the body was finally returned to his family.
“Osman Azizi used to be a trade worker but a few months ago his wife was diagnosed with brain tumour s he decided to work as a Kolber worker in order to be able to pay his wife’s medical expenses,” the kHRN source said.
In the past few days, Sardar Saeed Montazerolmahdi, in an interview with the state media, denied the news and reports on Iranian troops’ killing of Kurdish Kolber workers, describing such reports as “foreign media lies”.
This denial in the Iranian state media came while KHRN in its annual report, from March 2015 to March 2016, on human rights violations and atrocities committed against Kurdish Kolber workers and tradesmen, published names of 65 Kolber workers and tradesmen systematically killed or wounded by the Iranian government troops.
The UN special rapporteur on human rights’ in Iran has mentioned the KHRN’s report in its report on the slaying of Kolber workers.
